The fulfillment of a vision.......

The Free Clinic of Kalamazoo is a volunteer-based, free health clinic founded in 1993 to offer medical treatment, health education, advocacy or referral to the estimated 26,000 uninsured residents of Kalamazoo County. More than 350 volunteers provided a wide range of health related services.

During its first dozen years, the clinic was housed in First Presbyterian Church, located in downtown Kalamazoo. In 2005, planned renovations to the church house provided the clinic with an excellent opportunity to evaluate its current services and attempt to forecast future need.

A decision was made to purchase and renovate a former warehouse at 2918 Portage Road, located in an area where more than 40% of clinic clients reside.

The clinic reopened at its new location in February, 2006 and became independent from First Presbyterian Church in December, 2007.
